Baseball Recap: Juan Diego Catholic Comes Up Short

Juan Diego Catholic came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Cottonwood Colts, falling 14-7. The Soaring Eagle were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Colts apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Juan Diego Catholic saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tage McKinley, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another was Hayden Mezenen, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Juan Diego Catholic now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Cottonwood, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-6.

While Juan Diego Catholic had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
