Basketball Recap: Aiken Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Aiken can now relate to. They fell 49-41 to the Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles on Monday. The Fighting Green Hornets have struggled against the War Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Aiken lost, don't look at Tre'Von Walker. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Henry Vaughters, who had seven points.

Gray Collegiate Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hunter Mcgraw led the charge by putting up 11 points. Mcgraw is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 57% in the last three games he's played. Lamont (Lj) Britt was another key player, scoring nine points and eight rebounds.

Aiken's loss dropped their record down to 11-15. As for Gray Collegiate Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

Aiken does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gray Collegiate Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 78-50 win against May River on the 20th.
