Basketball Game Preview: Southeast Halifax Trojans vs. Wilson Prep Tigers

Southeast Halifax is 0-10 against Wilson Prep since November of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Southeast Halifax Trojans will look to defend their home court against the Wilson Prep Tigers at 7:30 p.m.

Southeast Halifax is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Thursday. They took a 51-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Roanoke Rapids.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wilson Prep). They blew past Weldon, posting a 97-35 win. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 20 points or more this season.

Wilson Prep found their leader in sophomore Zack Draughn, who went 11 of 16 on his way to 25 points and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Draughn has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Newsome, who posted 14 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Wilson Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Wilson Prep has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.4 points per game. As for Southeast Halifax, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Southeast Halifax suffered a grim 94-70 defeat to Wilson Prep in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Southeast Halifax avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
