Volleyball Recap: Plainfield South Snags Fifth Win in Last Six Games

Plainfield South and Plainfield North faced off in a cross-town battle on Thursday. The Cougars walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Tigers. The Cougars were shut out 2-0 the last time they took on the Tigers, so the Cougars were just returning the favor.

Plainfield South didn't let Plainfield North take a single set, but it sure wasn't easy: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 29-27.

Domonic Krejci paced Plainfield South's offense, picking up eight kills. Krejci got some help from Alexander Venes and his 28 assists. Venes was also a major player on defense: he and he shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with three each.

Plainfield South has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. As for Plainfield North, they moved to 13-15 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Plainfield South will venture away from home to square off against Joliet West at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Plainfield North, they will take on Neuqua Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
