Baseball Recap: Barry County Christian Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Barry County Christian unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the West Michigan Crusaders by a score of 8-7 on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 8-7 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Barry County Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonathan Hawkes, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

West Michigan's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Barry County Christian beat the Crusaders by a score of 4-3 later that day.
