Volleyball Recap: Benton Escapes with a Win

It was close, but on Tuesday the Benton Rangers sidestepped the Carbondale Terriers for a 2-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rangers.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Benton who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final set scores wound up at 25-22, 22-25, 25-17.

Carbondale's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Sidney Viernum, who had 27 assists, six digs, and two aces, and Essence Haynes, who had 17 kills and two solo blocks.

Benton's victory brought them up to 2-0.

Benton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Harrisburg on the 27th. As for Carbondale, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against Highland on the 27th.
