Soccer Recap: Jones County Takes a Loss

Jones County fought the good fight in their overtime game against Locust Grove on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Locust Grove Wildcats by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 11 goals in the game before, the Greyhounds couldn't push the score so high this time.

Jones County's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those three matches. As for Locust Grove, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Jones County and Locust Grove should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. Jones County will face off against Eagle's Landing Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday up 224 places (98 vs. 322). Similarly, Locust Grove (ranked 113th) will meet Woodland (ranked 260th) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
