Softball Recap: Sanger Comes Up Short

Sanger blew Reedley out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Reedley got their revenge. Sanger fell just short of Reedley by a score of 3-1. The Apaches were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Samantha Guerra was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Sierra Wyrick was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

Sanger's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Reedley, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sanger will head out to take on Clovis East at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Sanger 1.6, Clovis East 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Reedley, they are taking a road trip to challenge Mission Oak at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Reedley's pitchers better be ready for this one: Mission Oak has averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
