Recap: Walhalla Razorbacks vs. Easley Green Wave

On Thursday, the Walhalla Razorbacks's game was all tied up 12-12 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Easley by a score of 37-29. Given Walhalla's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Easley is ranked 154th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gianna Ortiz-Viera was her usual excellent self, scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Marnie Baxter, who scored eight points along with four steals.

Several Green Wave players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kimbel Leach, who scored seven points. Karson Bigham was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.

Walhalla's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Easley, they have fallen quite a ways from their 18-7 record last season and are now at 2-7.

Walhalla won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Chapman at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Chapman has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 186 points over their last three contests. As for Easley, they will head out on the road to face off against Seneca at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Seneca focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Thursday.
