Basketball Recap: Andrean Beats Bowman Academy for Their Fifth Straight Win

Andrean won against Lowell last Saturday with 49 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Wednesday. The Andrean Fighting 59ers secured a 49-45 W over the Bowman Academy Eagles. Given the Fighting 59ers' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Eagles are ranked 258th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Andrean's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lindsay Arcella, who posted 18 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Maddie Walton, who scored 12 points and six rebounds.

Despite the loss, Bowman Academy still got an impressive performance from Kahlen Robinson, who went 8 for 15 en route to 24 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. That was a full 53.3% of Bowman Academy's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Amariee Thurman was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Andrean, bringing their record for this year to 11-9. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 29.1% in those games and 17.2% outside of them. As for Bowman Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.

Andrean has already played their next contest, a 48-19 loss against Valparaiso on the 18th. As for Bowman Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 58-7 win against South Bend Career Academy on the 18th.
