Baseball Preview: Baldwin Bulldogs vs. Osawatomie Trojans

Baldwin is 10-0 against Osawatomie since April of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Baldwin Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Osawatomie Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Baldwin is no doubt hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.

Baldwin lost a close one when they played on Friday but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 17-2 walloping at the hands of Santa Fe Trail. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest runs Baldwin has scored all season.

Baldwin saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Triston Base, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Osawatomie sidestepped Wellsville for a 5-4 win. The victory was just what Osawatomie needed coming off of a 6-0 loss in their prior contest.

Baldwin now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Osawatomie, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Baldwin has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Osawatomie struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Everything went Baldwin's way against Osawatomie when the teams last played back in April of 2023 as Baldwin made off with a 13-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Baldwin since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
