Basketball Recap: Hope Academy Comes Up Short

Hope Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 68-66 heartbreaker at the hands of the Life Christian Academy Lions. The Trojan Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 69-63.

Despite the loss, Hope Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Dwayne Foreman III went 7-for-9 from beyond the arc to rack up 40 points and three steals. Foreman III has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Willie Griggs, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 15 boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Life Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ahmed Salim Mustapha, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alberto Maldonado, who went 6-for-11 en route to 17 points.

Hope Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 21-11. As for Life Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 27-3 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home.

As of now, neither Hope Academy nor Life Christian Academy have any future games scheduled.
