Baseball Recap: Southern Comes Up Short

Southern managed to slip by Chaney the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Indians lost 10-3 to the Cowboys on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that the Indians have lost by exactly seven runs.

Mason Pitts was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Pitts was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Pitts wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Braden Rhodes, who went 2-for-4 with one run. Another was Preston Pitts, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Southern has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-15 record this season. As for Chaney, their victory bumped their record up to 5-13.

Coming up, Southern will square off against Heartland Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Chaney, they are taking a road trip to face off against Liberty at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
