Baseball Recap: Knoxville Catholic Gets the Win

Knoxville Catholic hadn't done well against Farragut recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Knoxville Catholic Fighting Irish walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Farragut Admirals. For the Fighting Irish, this counts as revenge for the 9-1 win the Admirals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Manny Maurer looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single hit any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Knoxville Catholic got a big performance out of Nick Turner, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Turner a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Alex Ditmore, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Knoxville Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Farragut, their defeat ended a 25-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Knoxville Catholic will welcome Powell at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Knoxville Catholic is facing Powell at the right time seeing as Powell is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Farragut, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup will give Farragut their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
