Basketball Recap: Triton Trojans vs. Argos Dragons

Triton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 37-36 heartbreaker at the hands of the Argos Dragons. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 40-38 back in November of 2024.

Triton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gracie Riffle, who posted 11 points. Sierra Hawley also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Argos to victory, but perhaps none more so than Morgyn Barcus, who had 13 points and four steals. Barcus is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ellie Bollenbacher, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Triton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-20. As for Argos, their win bumped their record up to 7-14.

Triton and Argos could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. Triton (ranked 347th) will meet North Judson-San Pierre (ranked 102nd) at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. Meanwhile, Argos will challenge LaVille at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th down 180 places (317 vs. 137).
