Baseball Game Preview: Eastmark Firebirds vs. Combs Coyotes

For the second straight game, Eastmark will face off against Combs. The Firebirds will take on the Coyotes at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: Eastmark has lost four straight at home , while Combs has lost five on the road.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Eastmark turned things around against Combs on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Coyotes with a sharp 9-3 win.

Matthew Kee made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Eastmark is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-11 otherwise. Kee was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Keagan Heirshberg and Keanu Mortenson did most of the damage at the plate: Heirshberg scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Mortenson scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Mortenson a new career-high. Austin Snyder was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-5.

Eastmark kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Combs' defeat dropped their record down to 4-13-1. As for Eastmark, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 5-12.
