Volleyball Recap: Reedley Comes Up Short

Reedley lost against Central Valley Christian back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Pirates lost 3-0 to the Cavaliers. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-15, 25-9.

Aryssa Baca paced Reedley's offense, picking up eight kills. Baca got some help from Kaylie Thiesen and her 21 assists. Jocelyn Rodriguez controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Central Valley Christian can attribute much of their success to Cooper Piepgrass, who had 18 digs. Piepgrass is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last five games she's played. Emma Mihalcin also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.

Reedley's defeat dropped their record down to 21-11-1. As for Central Valley Christian, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 28-6.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Reedley will face off against rival Kingsburg at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Central Valley Christian is set to challenge their familiar foe Immanuel at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
