Recap: Lafayette Rams vs. Poquoson Islanders
The Lafayette Rams were the 48-42 winner over the Poquoson Islanders when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Lafayette opened the new year with a less-than-successful 42-38 defeat to they on Tuesday. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Lafayette saw an underclassman step up: Kenzie Charity scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was MaKayla Keys, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Lafayette has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Poquoson, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lafayette will take on Tabb at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Poquoson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bruton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
