Basketball Recap: Holmes Comes Up Short

Holmes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the O'Connor Panthers, falling 52-31. The Huskies were down 43-21 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Holmes still got an impressive performance from Darlene Doboyou, who went 7 for 15 en route to 17 points and eight rebounds. That's the most points Doboyou has posted since back in November of 2024.

O'Connor found their leader in sophomore Casey Chavez, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Chavez has scored at least a third of O'Connor's points. Another player making a difference was Mary Loeffler, who posted nine points.

Holmes' defeat dropped their record down to 16-16. As for O'Connor, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-14.

Holmes will be playing at home against Marshall at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Holmes is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season. O'Connor has already played their next contest (against Stevens), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
