Basketball Game Preview: Hoggard Vikings vs. Green Level Gators

Two dominant guards in Tristan Shivers and Claire Barber are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Hoggard Vikings will take on the Green Level Gators on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Hoggard is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 62-24 victory over Gray's Creek. The win was familiar territory for the Vikings, who have now won 18 contests in a row.

Meanwhile, everything went Green Level's way against Laney on Tuesday as Green Level made off with a 52-27 victory. The Gators pushed the score to 49-19 by the end of the third, a deficit the Buccaneers cut but never quite recovered from.

Hoggard better keep an eye on Barber. She was instrumental in Green Level's win, en route to 22 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Baker, who posted 11 points.

Hoggard's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 27-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points over those games. As for Green Level, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season.

Hoggard came up short against Green Level in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, falling 38-32. Thankfully for Hoggard, Audrey Ericksen (who to rack up 22 points along with six boards and three blocks) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
