Andrean has gone 6-1 against Hanover Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Fighting 59ers will take on the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Andrean 3.2, Hanover Central 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Andrean is headed into the game having just posted their closest win since April 10, 2024 on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Lowell 5-4. The Fighting 59ers haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Sadie Drousias made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Drousias was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Micah Snider, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Aubrey Grasha was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Andrean was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lowell only posted a batting average of .200.
Meanwhile, Hanover Central put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against Kankakee Valley.
Jillian Deyoung tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over eight innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sienna Antkiewicz and Sienna Stilley did most of the damage at the plate: Antkiewicz scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Stilley went 1-for-4 with one home run. Antkiewicz also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Adeline McMahon, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Hanover Central's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Andrean, their record now sits at 6-2.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Andrean hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .445. However, it's not like Hanover Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .414. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
