San Marcos proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by eight) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Sage Creek Bobcats 3-2. That's more bragging rights for the Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Isaac Esquer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Stephen Pittman, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Another player making a difference was Ethan Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

San Marcos has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Sage Creek, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-4.

San Marcos has already played their next contest, a 4-3 victory against Patrick Henry on the 31st. As for Sage Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against Cathedral Catholic on the 31st.
