Basketball Recap: Coventry Falls Short Against Ranked Moses Brown

On Wednesday, Coventry faced Moses Brown in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Coventry Oakers received a blow as they fell 62-48 to the Moses Brown Quakers. The contest marked the Oakers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Several Oakers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brayden Martin, who posted 12 points and three steals. Alex Justiniano was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

Leading Moses Brown to victory were Donovan Clement and Otis Crosby. Clement dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Crosby dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. The match was Crosby's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Mburu, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points and five rebounds.

Coventry has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season. As for Moses Brown, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Coventry wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 51-49 loss against Rogers on the 21st. As for Moses Brown, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-49 win against East Greenwich on the 17th.
