Basketball Recap: Rocky Hill Country Day Mariners vs. Varsity Opponent
After flying high against Dublin last Wednesday, Rocky Hill Country Day came back down to earth. The Rocky Hill Country Day Mariners were just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 45-44 to Varsity Opponent. While the Mariners didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating Varsity Opponent 13-9 in the first quarter.
Despite the loss, Rocky Hill Country Day still got an impressive performance from Lily Sokol, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds. That was a full 45.5% of Rocky Hill Country Day's points, marking the tenth time in a row Sokol has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Vyannis Moronta, who had eight points in addition to nine boards and six assists.
Even though they lost, Rocky Hill Country Day was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. This was only their third loss (out of ten games) when they've passed the ball that well.
