The timing is sure in Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Elyria Catholic has been banged up by ten consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

On Friday, Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy got the win against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin by a conclusive 9-1.

Alex Mammone and Nik Wirsching were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Mammone pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Wirsching didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. At the plate, Mammone went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Wirsching went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Lancy, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ryan Wiehe, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Elyria Catholic came up short against Brunswick on Thursday, falling 15-1.

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Elyria Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.
