Softball Recap: Penn Wood Patriots vs. Chichester Eagles
Penn Wood had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 21-10 walloping at the hands of the Chichester Eagles on Wednesday. Penn Wood has struggled against Chichester recently, as their matchup on Wednesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
For Chichester's part, Valerie Wilkins looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.
On the hitting side, Chichester got a massive performance out of Kylie Becker, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Camryn Wildrick, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with a home run, four runs, and three RBI.
The win was the third in a row for Chichester, bringing their record for this year to 3-2.
Penn Wood will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Academy Park at 3:45 p.m. As for Chichester, they will head out on the road to take on Interboro at 3:45 a.m. on Thursday. Chichester knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with flashy run totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Interboro likes a good challenge.
