Recap: Mineral County Serpents vs. Whittell Warriors
The Mineral County Serpents posted their biggest win yet this season on Friday. They really took it to Whittell for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-21 win at home. With Mineral County ahead 43-10 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
It was another big night for DeVayne Isom, who scored 13 points along with five assists and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Triston Jones, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Whittell lost, one person who can't be blamed is Zander Lezama-Demazo. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Mineral County's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for Whittell, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Coincidentally, Mineral County and Whittell will both be playing Smith Valley the next time they take the court. Whittell will host Smith Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Mineral County will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
