Foothill skates past Chaparral with ease

You can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Foothill Falcons's strategy against the Chaparral Cowboys on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Foothill blew Chaparral out of the water with a 52-23 final score. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Foothill has managed all season.

It was another big night for Zak Abdalla, who scored 13 points along with three steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Corbin Putnam, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Chaparral's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Qualib Ghallab, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Ghallab is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Elijah Bard was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds.

Foothill has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Chaparral, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-15.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Foothill's road trip will continue as they head out to face Durango at 6:30 p.m. on January 29th. Foothill is facing Durango at the right time seeing as Durango is stuck on a 11-game losing streak. As for Chaparral, they and Del Sol will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nevada (Chaparral is ranked 58th, while Del Sol is ranked 80th).
