            Soccer Preview: Southeast vs. Palmetto        
        
		
        
        
            Southeast hasn't had much luck against Palmetto recently, but that could start to change  on Saturday. The Southeast Seminoles are taking a road trip to  take on the Palmetto Tigers  at 11:00  a.m. Neither  squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.
Southeast managed to keep up with Manatee until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Southeast lost  5-1 to Manatee.  Ayah Martinez was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on her (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.
Southeast's goal came courtesy  of  Martinez, which was the first she's scored this season.
 Meanwhile, Palmetto kept a clean sheet against Manatee  on Thursday. They skirted past the Hurricanes  1-0. Given the Tigers' advantage  in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings  (they are ranked 91st, while the Hurricanes are ranked 284th), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
 Palmetto is  on a roll lately: they've  won six of their last seven matches,  which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record  this season. As for Southeast, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9-2.
 Southeast suffered a grim  9-0 defeat to Palmetto  when the teams last played  back in December of 2024. Can Southeast avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
