Soccer Game Preview: Firebaugh vs. Mayfair

Firebaugh and Mayfair are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but likely not for long. The Firebaugh Falcons will welcome the Mayfair Monsoons at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Firebaugh's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for 12 straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Firebaugh's offense. They came up short against Gahr on Thursday, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1075th, while the Gladiators are ranked 170th).

Meanwhile, Mayfair has been on a difficult stretch since their win on the 16th. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Norwalk on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that the Monsoons have lost by exactly two goals.

Firebaugh's loss dropped their record down to 0-16-1. As for Mayfair, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14-2.
