Basketball Game Preview: Palmetto Mustangs vs. Powdersville Patriots

Palmetto is 0-10 against Powdersville since January of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Palmetto Mustangs will be playing at home against the Powdersville Patriots at 6:00 p.m.

Palmetto is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They were dealt a 100-36 defeat at the hands of Powdersville. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 210th, while the Patriots are ranked 58th).

Powdersville's win came from a few key players Palmetto will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Raegan Bryant, who dropped a double-double on 38 points and 12 assists. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Caroline Sweet was another key player, going 13 of 22 en route to 33 points in addition to eight assists and four steals.

Powdersville was working as a unit and finished the game with 29 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win (which was Powdersville's eighth in a row) raised their record to 11-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.5 points per game. As for Palmetto, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.
