Football Recap: Perry Takes a Loss

Perry extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 0-4. They took a blow against the Jones Longhorns, falling 61-3. The Maroons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-0.

As for Jones, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Fans of they have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Acyn Hansen produced another solid performance throwing for 204 yards and three TDs while completing 76.5% of his passes, and also picking up 33 receiving yards and one touchdown. What's more, he racked up 155.4 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Carlos Hardeman, who picked up 67 receiving yards and one score.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Perry is set to square off against their familiar foe Blackwell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Jones will take on rival Millwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
