League recap: Melbourne Central Catholic climbs in standings with win

3A District 3 recap September 4, 2013

Melbourne Central Catholic was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in 3A District 3. Earlier in the week, the Hustlers defeated Tomball Christian HomeSchool 52-0.

Melbourne Central Catholic took down the Warriors 52-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Brandon Ziarno threw for 222 yards and 4 touchdowns during the win.

Daniel Welch and Alex Bouie gave Holy Trinity Episcopal a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Welch threw for 121 yards and 30 touchdowns, while Bouie ran for 178 yards. Welch also contributed to the rushing game with 88 yards on the ground.

Welch and Bouie gave the Tigers a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week.

He went 8-12 with 1 interceptions.

Bouie was the best running back in the league this week.

Welch put up the best numbers in passing as Holy Trinity Episcopal defeated Father Lopez. Welch's favorite target this week was J'V'ON Butler, who caught 2 passes for 54 yards.

Austin Perlman was the best wideout in the league this week as Mike Riazzi's team bested Tomball Christian HomeSchool. Perlman tallied 5 receptions for 95 yards. Max Erdman helped Melbourne Central Catholic's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 87 yards.

6-foot-0 quarterback Ziarno of the Hustlers is the league leader in passing yards this season with 222. He has also thrown 4 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Butler. The Holy Trinity Episcopal star has 8 catches for 111 yards.

Orangewood Christian made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,326 from 8,728. The advance stemmed from a 28-6 victory over the Rams last week.
