The Desert Oasis Diamondbacks will venture away from home to take on the Liberty Patriots at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Desert Oasis is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.
Desert Oasis' pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They didn't even let Chaparral on the board, marking the Diamondbacks' second-straight 17-0 shutout. The Diamondbacks haven't had any issues with the Cowboys recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Brianna Bartok was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, Veyda Simon was excellent, scoring three runs while going 1-for-2. Cassidy Infante was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Desert Oasis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .846. They are 6-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Liberty faced Centennial in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Patriots walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Bulldogs.
Charlotte Crittenden spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on 13 hits. Those hits were her first of the season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Morgyn Vesco, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March.
Desert Oasis' record is now 7-5-1. As for Liberty, their record now sits at 10-4-2.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Desert Oasis hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .380. However, it's not like Liberty struggles in that department as they've averaged .332. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Desert Oasis came up short against Liberty when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 8-5. Can the Diamondbacks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
