Baseball Game Preview: Reagan Rattlers vs. Calallen Wildcats

Reagan has won three straight games at home, while Calallen has won three straight on the road dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Rattlers will welcome the Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. The last five games Reagan has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Friday, Reagan narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Brandeis 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Rattlers in their matchups with the Broncos: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Calallen got themselves on the board against Zapata on Tuesday, but Zapata never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 13-0 win. Considering the Wildcats have won 16 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Drayton Mitchell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Chase Lynch was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Blake Quinn was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Calallen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Calallen's victory bumped their record up to 26-1. As for Reagan, their win bumped their record up to 21-7-2.
