Basketball Game Preview: Lamar Silver Foxes vs. C.A. Johnson Hornets

The Lamar Silver Foxes will face off against the C.A. Johnson Hornets at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Lamar is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.8 points per game this season.

Lamar is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Riverwalk Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lamar blew Riverwalk Academy out of the water with an 82-21 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-6.

Lamar found their leader in freshman Lamont Williams, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of JiQuavis Durant, who made all 7 shots he took for 15 points.

Lamar smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 20 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, C.A. Johnson suffered their closest loss since December 2, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of McBee by a score of 57-54. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

C.A. Johnson's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Lamar, their win bumped their record up to 9-13.

Lamar came up short against C.A. Johnson in their previous matchup back in January, falling 70-58. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of C.A. Johnson's Aiassiac Germany, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. Now that Lamar knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time?
