Baseball Game Preview: Lakeside Lions vs. Bishop Blanchet Bears

The Lakeside Lions will head out to square off against the Bishop Blanchet Bears at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Lakeside's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Bishop Blanchet's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Friday, Lakeside came up short against Roosevelt and fell 5-1. The matchup marked the Lions' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Bishop Blanchet hadn't done well against Lincoln recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Bishop Blanchet had just enough and edged out Lincoln 3-2. The game was the first time the Bears have beaten the Lynx on their field since May 7, 2021.

The win made it two in a row for Bishop Blanchet and bumps their season record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Lakeside, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Lakeside couldn't quite finish off Bishop Blanchet when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can Lakeside avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
