Brillion is 8-2 against Kiel since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Lions will take on the Raiders in a tournament on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Kiel will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Brillion extended their winning streak to four on Thursday. The Lions' pitchers stepped up to hand Reedsville an 8-0 shutout. Eight seems to be a good number for the Lions as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Grace Krueger made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jana O'Connell, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Carter Miller, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Kiel walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Clippers on Thursday as they made off with a 14-0 win. Winning may never get old, but the Raiders sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Like Brillion, Kiel also got a great game from a two-way player: Liz Neils. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Neils was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Karris Fisher was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Sabrina Boyer was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Kiel hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.
Brillion's victory bumped their record up to 19-3. As for Kiel, their win bumped their record up to 9-13.
Kiel's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Brillion has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .456. It's a different story for Kiel, though, as they've only averaged .341. Will they be able to contain Brillion's hitters?
Brillion took their victory against Kiel in their previous meeting last Tuesday by a conclusive 8-0 score. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
