Basketball Recap: Skyline Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Blackfoot

On Thursday, Skyline faced Blackfoot in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Skyline Grizzlies took a 61-43 bruising from the Blackfoot Broncos. The Grizzlies were down 47-27 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

When it comes to explaining why Skyline lost, don't look at Shay Shippen. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten boards. The matchup was Shippen's eighth in a row with at least 15 points. Abby Muir was another key player, putting up eight points.

Even though they lost, Skyline smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Cambrie Waterhouse was a one-woman wrecking crew for Blackfoot as she dropped a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Those 20 points gave Waterhouse a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Jackman, who went 5-for-11 en route to 15 points.

Skyline's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Blackfoot, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-5.

Skyline wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 67-44 victory against Shelley on the 15th. Blackfoot does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
