Football Recap: Hammonton Comes Up Short

Hammonton and Atlantic City pushed the score to 54-14 the last time they played Atlantic City, but on Saturday defenses reigned supreme. The Blue Devils took a 13-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Vikings are ranked 21st).

Hammonton dropped their record down to 1-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Atlantic City, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1.

Coming up, Hammonton will take on Shawnee at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Atlantic City, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Holy Spirit at 10:00 a.m. on November 28.
