Basketball Recap: Chester Skates Past Penn Wood with Ease

Chester had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 39-point drubbing they dealt Penn Wood on Thursday. The Chester Clippers really took it to the Penn Wood Patriots for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-34 win. The Clippers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 27 points or more this season.

Chester's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ja?Mya Muhammad led the charge by going 10 for 16 en route to 30 points along with seven boards and six steals. Muhammad's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Imani Dorsey, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Chester was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Penn Wood only posted three assists.

Penn Wood's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kamila Majid, who posted six points and 11 boards. Taylor Morris was another key player, putting up 13 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Chester's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.2 points per game. As for Penn Wood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9.

Chester wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 69-5 win against Mastery Charter North - Pickett on the 18th.
