The Midlothian Trojans will take on the Godwin Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Midlothian is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Midlothian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Kellam.
Marlee Gaskell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Erin Fiege, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Godwin faced Great Bridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Eagles never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since April 19th.
Not much got past Katelyn Hubley, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Great Bridge off the board.
On the hitting side, Godwin's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Laney Poulos, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Another was Adelynn Collins, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
The victory made it two in a row for Godwin and bumps their season record up to 23-1. As for Midlothian, they pushed their record up to 23-0 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.
Saturday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Midlothian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .459. However, it's not like Godwin struggles in that department as they've averaged .476. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Midlothian skirted past Godwin 2-1 when the teams last played last Friday. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
