Softball Game Preview: Upper Scioto Valley Rams vs. Riverdale Falcons

Upper Scioto Valley is 0-4 against Riverdale since April of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons at 5:00 p.m. Upper Scioto Valley has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Upper Scioto Valley couldn't beat Ridgemont on Tuesday even though they stacked eight runs on them in the third inning. The Rams fell 15-12 to the Golden Gophers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (11), the Rams still had to take the loss.

Gracie Carl led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. Ashlyn Downing was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs.

Arcadia hit Riverdale with a four-run second inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Falcons lost 15-5 to the Redskins. The defeat continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Redskins: they've now lost three in a row.

Riverdale's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Upper Scioto Valley, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-7.

Upper Scioto Valley might still be hurting after the 10-3 loss they got from Riverdale when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
