Basketball Recap: Xavier College Prep Comes Up Short

Xavier College Prep was the 48-39 winner over O'Connor when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Gators received a blow on Wednesday as they fell 62-44 to the Eagles. The Gators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Xavier College Prep still got an impressive performance from Grace Cloud, who posted nine points in addition to six boards and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, Cloud now owns an excellent 45.3% shooting accuracy. Charlotte Chait also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

It was another big night for Ava Schooler, who shot 59% from the field en route to 26 points along with five rebounds and five steals for O'Connor. That's the most points Schooler has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Audrey Bhesania, who scored 12 points.

The loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 4-3. As for O'Connor, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Xavier College Prep will venture away from home to square off against Pinnacle at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for O'Connor, they will take on DeSoto in a tournament on Friday.
