Football Recap: Palmyra Cougars vs. Lower Dauphin Falcons

Palmyra was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were dealt a 44-0 loss at the hands of the Lower Dauphin Falcons. The Cougars lost against the Falcons in their previous head to head back in September of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 28-7 score last time.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lower Dauphin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braeden Heckard, who threw for 153 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 70 yards. Heckard is becoming a predictor of Lower Dauphin's success: when he posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 0-4 when he doesn't). Another back making a difference was Gerald Sanders, who rushed for 79 yards and two touchdowns.

Palmyra's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Lower Dauphin, the victory snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-4 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palmyra will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Red Land at 7:00 p.m. on October 18th. As for Lower Dauphin, they will venture away from home to square off against Mifflin County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lower Dauphin is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
