Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Cienega

Cienega entered their tilt with Buena on Wednesday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Buena Colts a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Maya Fimbres made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits she has allowed over her last ten contests. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Sicily Waller was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Isabel Mendoza was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Cienega was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Cienega's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Buena, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Cienega Bobcats take on Casa Grande Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on March 19th. As for Buena, they will host Catalina Foothills at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Buena has given up an average of 13.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
