Basketball Recap: Skyview Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Yzabella Tafoya and Nevaeh Lucero

After flying high against Wheat Ridge last Tuesday, Skyview came back down to earth. The Skyview Wolverines came up short against the Green Mountain Rams on Monday, falling 63-41. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Nevaeh Lucero and Yzabella Tafoya certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Lucero posted 14 points and six boards, while Tafoya scored 11 points.

Kantyn Pearson was a one-woman wrecking crew for Green Mountain as she went 10 of 17 en route to 23 points and six rebounds. Ella Cockrum was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Skyview moved to 6-4 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Green Mountain, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Skyview has already played their next contest, a 40-20 win against Aurora Central on the 14th. As for Green Mountain, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 57-33 victory against Golden on the 15th.
