Recap: Northwest Whitfield Bruins vs. Heritage Generals
It was a good run, but The Northwest Whitfield Bruins unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 28-21 to Heritage. Northwest Whitfield lost against Heritage in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 40-36 score last time.
Several Bruins players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hudson Gray, who picked up 95 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Heritage to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brayden Slaughter, who rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns. Max Owens also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Heritage's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. Northwest Whitfield's QB won't forget Evan Wingrove anytime soon given Wingrove sacked him seven times.
Northwest Whitfield's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Heritage, their win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-3.
Northwest Whitfield will take on Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Heritage, they will head out on the road to face off against Sonoraville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sonoraville is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
