Softball Recap: Rockbridge County Takes a Loss

Rockbridge County made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Fort Defiance, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wildcats fell just short of the Indians by a score of 5-3 on Thursday. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Bella Dorey was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

Rockbridge County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Fort Defiance, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rockbridge County will square off against Harrisonburg at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Streaks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.27 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Fort Defiance, they will challenge Stuarts Draft at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season.
