Soccer Game Preview: Tocoi Creek vs. Fernandina Beach

The Tocoi Creek Toros will take on the Fernandina Beach Pirates in a holiday battle at at 5:20 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Tocoi Creek is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Their defense stepped up to hand Beachside a 2-0 shutout on Friday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Toros' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 160th, while the Barracudas are ranked 44th).

Mckenna Lukanich and Hailey Porterfield scored both of Tocoi Creek's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

Meanwhile, Fernandina Beach waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Red Flashes 8-0. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by five goals or more this season.

Fernandina Beach's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those three matches. As for Tocoi Creek, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-5-2.

Tocoi Creek took their win against Fernandina Beach in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 5-0. Does Tocoi Creek have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fernandina Beach turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
